Global Solar UV Index

The Global Solar UV Index is a tool that shows how strong the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays are. It helps us understand the risk of getting sunburned and how to stay safe. The UV Index is divided into five levels, each with a color code:

  • Low (0-2, green): Safe to be outside, but it’s good to stay protected.
  • Moderate (3-5, yellow): Use sunscreen and wear a hat.
  • High (6-7, orange): Stay in the shade during midday and wear sunglasses.
  • Very High (8-10, red): Cover up, use sunscreen, and limit time outdoors.
  • Extreme (11+, violet): Avoid the sun and stay in the shade.

To protect your skin and eyes, wear a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Always try to stay in the shade when the sun feels too strong!
