Dr. Maria Anastasiadou earned her B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Athens in 2009 and completed her M.Sc. in Medical Physics at the University of Surrey, UK, in 2010. In 2011, she joined the KIOS Research Center at the University of Cyprus as a graduate-level researcher, focusing on epilepsy studies, multimodal seizure detection, and prediction. She successfully obtained her Ph.D. in January 2017 from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Cyprus. Prior to joining ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence, Maria served as a Research Associate at the KIOS Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence, University of Cyprus, from 2017 to 2023, where she coordinated several highprofile research projects, secured fundings of around 5M from European Union and Cyprus Government and excelled in contract writing. Currently, is leading the cluster Visual Exploration and Semantics under Big Earth Data Analytics department. Her research interests encompass signal processing, system identification, pattern recognition, and machine
learning.
