On the occasion of World Meteorological Day, the Department of Meteorology Cyprus invited the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence to attend a series of presentations focusing on recent developments in meteorology.

Representatives of the Centre were present at the event and followed presentations covering topics such as the application of Artificial Intelligence in meteorology and methodologies for wildfire risk assessment—key challenges for Cyprus and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.

The discussions highlighted the increasing importance of advanced technologies in improving forecasting capabilities, strengthening early warning systems, and supporting risk preparedness for natural hazards.

Such events contribute to strengthening connections between national authorities and the research community, promoting knowledge exchange and supporting ongoing efforts toward more resilient environmental management.
