CAMS NCP Cyprus at the 7th Atmosphere User Forum and the 10th CAMS General Assembly in Athens

From 13 to 15 October 2026, the CAMS National Collaboration Programme (NCP) Cyprus team was in Athens, Greece. The team took part in the 7th Atmosphere User Forum and the 10th General Assembly of the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS). Both were organised by CAMS, which ECMWF implements on behalf of the European Commission, together with the National Observatory of Athens (NOA).

The week opened on 13 October with the 7th Atmosphere User Forum at the Academy of Athens. The Forum brought together users of CAMS data from public authorities, research, industry and the health and environment sectors. They shared how they use atmospheric information and what they need from the service next.

On 14 and 15 October, the 10th CAMS General Assembly continued with plenary sessions at the Institut français de Grèce. Sessions covered the latest developments in CAMS services and products, user requirements and feedback, and cross-cutting topics such as air quality, health, climate and policy support.

At the General Assembly, our team presented the poster “AI-Enhanced Downscaling of CAMS Air Quality Products over Cyprus”, developed by the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence. The poster shows how AI methods turn CAMS data into high-resolution air quality information for Cyprus. It led to valuable discussions with CAMS scientists, service providers and other National Collaboration Programmes.

The week was also a chance to strengthen our ties with the wider Copernicus community. These connections will help shape the next steps of our work in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean.

We thank ECMWF, CAMS and NOA for organising such a productive week. We look forward to continuing our collaboration.

The CAMS National Collaboration Programme brings Copernicus atmosphere services closer to national users and authorities, helping them take up CAMS data and products at country level.
