From atmospheric data to the air we breathe—science connects us all!

As CAMS NCP, we took part in European Researchers’ Night 2026 at the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence kiosk in Nicosia, bringing atmospheric science closer to the public. ✨🔬
The evening offered an opportunity to introduce the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) and its relevance to everyday life. CAMS provides information on atmospheric composition—from air pollutants and aerosols to greenhouse gases—helping us understand and monitor our changing atmosphere.
💨 Why does air quality change from day to day?
🏜️ How can dust travel across countries and affect the air we breathe?
🛰️ How do observations and computer models work together to monitor the atmosphere and forecast air quality?
These questions highlight why accessible atmospheric information matters. Through our role as CAMS NCP, we help raise awareness of CAMS and connect its information with local needs, supporting its use in research, public services and decision-making.
Thank you to everyone who visited the kiosk and shared their curiosity, and to the ERATOSTHENES team for an evening full of conversations and discovery! 💙
